Geospatial Information Systems (GIS)

HOGARC Geospatial Information Services (GIS) combines spatial data and database information to create comprehensive maps that offer a wealth of information. Our GIS software is integrated with datasets such as U.S. Census Bureau information, parcel maps, aerial photography, soil maps, road rights-of-way, power lines, and more, making it a formidable analytical tool. Our advanced computing capabilities allow us to create detailed maps that provide a comprehensive overview of any area of interest. By linking various data sets like police accident reports, crime records, tax assessors' details, water and sewer information, new roads, zoning data, school locations, landmarks, and hunting properties to specific addresses, we can accurately locate and map them through GIS. We take pride in maintaining a robust spatial database that covers our expansive 17-county region, empowering local governments and various entities with timely access to comprehensive spatial maps and a well-managed database for GIS analysis. This ensures that the most current information is always available to everyone. Our mission is to make this seamless exchange of updated data among the RC, state, local governments, and individuals possible.

Cloud-Based Mapping
The HOGARC GIS Department has implemented a cloud-based mapping system to host internet maps and other geospatial mapping services. This new system is centrally hosted and managed by the Regional Commission and is accessible to member governments. The system offers additional features that allow remote editing of map data using only an internet connection and a web browser. Other cloud-based mapping deployments can be utilized to generate real-time analytics, such as demographic snapshots, asset inventories, routing applications, environmental assessments, and other geospatial analyses.

Please go to our Cloud-Based Mapping Site to see current maps that are available.
